The Best Solar Backpacks

1. SunLabz Solar Backpack  w/ 7w Solar Panel

First on the review is the SunLabz Solar Backpack. This particular pack is one of the best outdoor travel bags on this list. Reason for is because of its many features and lightweight design. It’s perfect for the outdoors and anyone who lives an active lifestyle.

On the front of the pack is a detachable 7w solar panel. This anti-scratch panel is lightweight, durable, and built to last the wear and tear of the outdoors. The solar panel is extremely efficient and provides a 22% transfer rate.

The panel itself has one USB port to charge your device directly from the sun. This is perfect as you can keep your device charged through the day as you hike. The panel also has easy compatibility so that your device gets the most efficient charging speed possible.

If you need power when the sun isn’t out then there is an included 10,000 mAh battery. You can use this battery to charge your devices at any time as long as the battery is charged. Which is perfect when camping and when the sun come down.

Another cool features is the 1.8L hydration pack. You simply just pour water into the pack and your ready to go. This is perfect when doing long distance running or hiking.

The materials used in SunLabz solar backpack are of high quality. The pack is durable and weather resistant so you won’t have to worry about mother nature damaging it. Overall we enjoyed this pack a lot. Its many features and amazing durability makes it perfect for anyone who is always outdoors.

Pros

Cons
  • Only meant for day hikes because of its slim and slender design.

2. ECEEN Solar Backpack w/ 7w Solar Panel

Second on the review is the ECEEN 7W Solar Backpack. This particular pack is another great outdoor backpack as it has many compartments and is very durable. For these reasons we think this pack is especially good for backpacking or day hikes.

On the front of the backpack is a 7w solar panel. The panel is covered with an anti-scratch hardened coating. This coating makes the panel extremely durable and water-resistant. The panel is also has a 22% transfer rate so that you can get the most from your charging.

On the back of the panel is one USB port so that you can charge your device directly from the panel. If for some reason you can’t do this then you can plug-in the included 10,000 mAh external battery. This battery can be charged during the day and used at night when the sun isn’t out.

The backpack itself is amazing for hikers as it has many compartments and pockets. They allow you to easily store all your gear and equipment. The adjustable breathable straps make using this pack comfortable and easy. You won’t get any bad tension spots like some day packs give you.

Another great thing about this pack is that its extremely durable. Which is perfect for when out in the tough wilderness. Overall we enjoyed this ECEEN Solar Backpack a lot. The solar panel is strong and the pack has many compartments. So if you’re looking for a solar backpack that can carry all your gear then this is the one for you!

Pros
  • Quality and durable materials ensure a lifetime of reliability.
  • Large pack makes it ideal for backpacking.
  • Solar panel has a high energy conversion rate.
Cons
  • It’s expensive compared to other solar backpacks.

3. ECEEN Solar Backpack w/ 3.25w Solar Panel

Third on the review is the ECEEN 3.25 w Solar Backpack. This pack is another top backpacking and outdoor backpack because of its extreme portability and durable design.

On front of the backpack is a 3.25w solar panel. This panel is much smaller than the above panel so charging times do increase. With that being said the panel has a transfer rate of 22% so that charging can be as efficient as possible.

The panel itself is very durable and is covered with an anti-scratch coating. This ensures the panel last through the wear and tear of the outdoors.

This panel is a little different from the above ones as it plugs directly into the 2,000 mAh battery. So you only have the option to charge it from the battery and not the panel directly. This shouldn’t be an issue since you’re getting the same end result, a charged electronic device.

The backpack itself is extremely portable. It can be folded up into a small pouch which is perfect for when storing away. If you want to use it then all you have to do is unfold it and you’re ready to go. Within the pack are multiple compartments, but not as many as the above ECEEN pack. Since this is so, this pack is only meant for day hiking trips and not full on backpacking. It’s also good for school use or for when going to the beach.

Overall we did like this backpack a lot. We don’t think its the best option since the panel and battery are small, but it’s extremely portable and might be perfect for some people. So if you’re looking for a small and portable solar backpack then this is the best choice for you.

Pros
  • Portable and foldable design makes it ideal for hiking trips.
  • Many compartments allow you to carry a lot of stuff.
Cons
  • Small panel and battery pack.

4. VIVO Solar Backpack w/ 2.4w Solar Panel

Fourth on the review is the VIVO 2.42w Solar Backpack. This particular pack is best suited for daily school use. Reason for is because of its cosmetic looks and because of the materials used.

On front of the VIVO is a small 2.4w solar panel. This is by far the smallest panel on the review and provides the least amount of power. The pack also comes with an included 1,600 mAh batter. This is also the smallest battery on the review and provides just enough juice to power a smart phone once.

The outside of the pack is made with an “Urban Camo” material. In our opinion this “Urban Camo” looks very good and very cosmetically pleasing. For this reason we think this pack is perfect for kids who want to use it at school.

This 18 inch backpack is relatively durable and can withstand the wear and tear of daily use. We wouldn’t recommend using this pack as a hardcore backpacking pack, but rather as a day pack. Overall we liked the VIVO a lot and recommend it to anyone who wants reliable solar backpack

Pros
  • Cool camouflage design.
  • Durable materials allow the backpack to withstand daily use.
  • Ideal for school use.
Cons
  • Uses a tiny solar panel and battery.

5. SolarGoPack Solar Backpack w/ 5w Solar Panel

Last on the list is the SolarGoPack 5w Solar Backpack. This is another top recreational pack that has an extremely large solar panel and battery. With that being said the pack isn’t very cosmetically good-looking so it landed last on the review.

On front of the pack is a 5w solar panel. This of course is a larger panel and provides a sufficient amount of power to charge your devices quickly. In addition to this powerful solar panel is 12,000 mAh battery pack. This is by far the largest battery on the review and provides a sufficient amount of juice to power your phone multiple times.

The pack itself is built with durable materials and is waterproof. It is also very roomy as it holds 27 liters. The only negative thing we found with this pack is its cosmetic looks. In our opinion the SolarGoPack isn’t the best looking pack on this review. Since this is a big factor when determining a pack it landed last on the list.

Overall this pack performed very well. It’s powerful solar panel and battery pack ensure that your devices are always charged. The only bad thing about it is it’s cosmetic looks. If this doesn’t bother you then you should definitely consider this backpack as it performs very well.

Pros
  • Powerful solar panel and battery pack.
  • Large pack allows you to carry a lot of stuff.
Cons
  • Cosmetically unappealing.

Solar Backpack Benefits

Everyday we use cell phones, tablets, iPods, computers, speakers, and other electronic devices. These devices bring so many positives, but have one negative aspect. This negative aspect is that they always need to be charged in order to work. The truth is that we aren’t always near an outlet and need some other avenue of charging out devices.

To combat this issue companies have made solar backpacks. These backpacks are simply normal backpacks with a solar panel on the front. These panels allow you to charge your devices directly from the sun during the day. If you need power at night then the included battery packs are able to charge multiple devices with one single charge.

Not only do these packs have included solar panels, but some also come with an included hydration pack. These hydration packs are perfect for when hiking or when on backpacking trips.

If you’re someone who hikes or backpacks a lot then you’ll be happy to hear there are solar backpacks made specifically for you. These packs are extremely durable and can withstand the wear and tear of long trips. Some are also water proof or water-resistant.

Overall solar backpacks offer a perfect solution to anyone who is outdoors a lot. They keep your devices charge while also keeping them safe from the outdoors.
