The Best Solar Speakers

1. REVEAL Solar Speaker

First on the review is the REVEAL Solar Speaker. This is speaker reached number 1 because of its amazing portability and awesome design. If you’re looking for an extremely portable speaker then this is the device for you.

This particular speaker has a 8 hour battery life that can be extended with the help of the built-in solar panel. So if you’re using the speaker in direct sunlight then you might get an hour or two of extra playing time. Also from our experience it took an average of around of 7-8 hours to charge directly from the sun.

In regards to sound quality this solar speaker is very good for its size. It’s sound is very crisp and gets as loud as you need it to be. Just don’t expect to entertain a party with this speaker. It designed to be a quality pool speaker and not a hardcore concert speaker. The speaker is also bluetooth compatible and has a built-in AUX port.

One awesome feature that we loved about this device is its bamboo grill. This grill is very cosmetically appealing and just adds to the eco-friendly nature of the device. Another awesome feature this speaker has is a USB port to charge your phone. Overall the REVEAL Solar Speaker has impressed us a lot. We think its one of the best solar speakers because of its amazing design and great portability.

Pros
  • Extremely portable.
  • Cosmetically good looking.
  • Quality sound performance.
Cons
  • Not very durable.

2. Eton Rugged Rukus Solar Speaker

Second on the review is the Eton Rugged Rukus Solar Speaker. This speaker landed second because of its large solar panel and extreme durability. The speaker is rated IPX4 so you won’t have to worry about spilling water on the speaker.

Along with the above speaker this one also has an 8 hour battery life. To expand this battery life is a large built-in solar panel. So in direct sunlight you can get a few extra hours of playing time. We also found that it took around 5 hours to charge the speaker directly from the sun.

The sound quality of this speaker is pretty good. There are 2 full range speaker drivers that create clear and crisp sounds. The only negative aspect of this speakers sound is that it doesn’t get extremely loud. While the loudness is horrible, we just thought it should have a little more power. It also should be known that speaker both bluetooth compatible and has an included AUX port.

One of the best aspects of this speaker is that it’s very durable. The materials used on the speaker are tough and can handle the wear and tear of the outdoors. The speaker is also water-resistant so you can take this speaker near the water without having to worry. Along with this the solar panel is scratch resistant to get the longest life span possible.

Other cool features this speaker has is multiple carabiner-ready loops. This allows you to attach the speaker to the back of your pack or on a rope to charge. There is also a built-in USB port so that you can charge your phone or other electronic devices. In the end this is a very good solar speaker. The Eton Rugged Rukus offers a durable speaker that is meant to be used in the outdoors. This speaker is also the cheapest on the list so it offers a wonderful value for the price.

Pros
  • Made with quality and durable materials.
  • Long battery life.
  • Produces loud and crisp sounds.
Cons
  • None.

3. Eton Rugged Rukus Xtreme Solar Speaker

Third on review is the Eton Rugged Rukus Extreme Solar Speaker. This speaker is essentially a beefed up version of the original Rugged Rukus. With that being said it’s a lot more expensive then the original so it landed third on the list.

This particular speaker has a battery life of 8 hours. This can of course be extended with the built-in solar panel. When testing the speaker we found that it took around 5 hours to charge fully from the sun. This is essentially the same as the original Rugged Rukus.

Sound quality, on the other hand, is something that has improved tremendously since the last Rugged Rukus. This speaker has two full range speakers and bass extending passive radiators for that low-end boom. This allows the speaker to have much deeper bass and an overall better sound experience. Bluetooth and AUX compatibility are also included with this speaker.

Another cool feature this speaker has is an included speakerphone. This allows you to take phone calls directly through the speaker if someone calls you. The included USB port has also been updated on this speaker. It’s now much faster and charges your devices in a very short amount of time.

Durability on this speaker has also increased. There is added rubber plastics that make the speaker seem much more durable. The IPX rating, on the other hand, stayed the same at though. With that being said this is definitely a better version of the Rugged Rukus. The only negative thing about this device is its price tag. For this reason it landed 3rd on the review.

Pros
  • Loud and quality sound with deep bass.
  • Utilizes thick rubber plastic for added durability.
  • Built-in USB port for charging your mobile devices.
Cons
  • Higher price tag.

4. Eton Soulra XL Solar Speaker

Fourth on the review is the Eton Soultra XL Solar Speaker. Yes, this is another Eton product, but it has earned its place on the review. This particular speaker has by far the best sound quality out of all the speakers on this review. But, with this amazing sound quality comes a high price tag. For this reason in landed 4th on the review.

The Eton Soultra XL has an average battery life of 5 hours. This battery life can be expanded by its very large built-in solar panel. This speaker has the largest solar panel on the review. This large panel allows the speaker to be fully charged from the sun in only 5 hours.

Sound quality on the Soultra XL is absolutely amazing! It has 8 speaker drivers (2x tweeter, 2x woofer, 4x passive) and a 22 watt output with bass boost. With all this comes amazing sound quality and deep bass. The speaker also gets very loud so you can you can most definitely entertain a lot of people.

When it comes to connectivity you can only use an AUX port. Other than this there is an 30 pin docking connector for old iPhones and iPods. Now a days most people don’t have these devices so the connecter in kind of useless. To add on to this there is no bluetooth connectivity. This will be a big issue for some since there is only an AUX port to connect to.

The Eton Soultra XL is not a durable or very portable device. It just has very delicate parts that I would be afraid to drop. The speaker is also relatively large at 7 pounds. So don’t expect to be able to take it on long hiking or backpacking trips.

Overall the Eton Soultra is a great speaker. It is very powerful and has amazing sound. Its super large solar panel is also very effective at charging the device. The only negative aspects about it is that it has outdated features and needs to be updated a bit. In the end if you’re looking for a powerful solar speaker to use only by the pool then this is the device for you.

Pros
  • Extremely loud speaker.
  • Produces quality sound with its 8 speaker drivers.
  • Quick solar charging time.
Cons
  • Outdated features.

5. Pyle PBTSN50 Sunblast Solar Speaker

Last place on the review is the Pyle PBTSN50 Sunblast Solar Speaker. This device offers a wonderful pool side speaker with the updated features that the Soultra XL didn’t have. The only negative aspect of the speaker is its design. Cosmetically it isn’t the best looking so for this reason it landed last on the review.

This particular speaker has an amazing 10 hour battery life. This is by far the best battery life on the list. To add on to this the solar panel adds on a few extra hours. In our tests we found that it took an average of 10 hours to charge the speaker fully from the sun.

The speaker also has great sound quality. Its full-bodied audio, crisp stereo sound and impressive bass makes this speaker an awesome feature to anyones backyard. It also has an integrated class-D digital amplifier. This allows the speaker to achieve both great sound that is also very loud.

The Pyle also has bluetooth connectivity. This is an awesome feature that the above Eton Soulra didn’t have. To add on to this there is a built-in microphone. This allows you to answer any phone calls through the speaker itself.

This speaker is also much more durable than the above speaker. Its rated IPX4 so it can withstand splashes of water. With that being said it’s a wonderful pool side speaker. So if you don’t mind the looks of this device and want a quality bluetooth compatible speaker then this is the device for you.
